Time used: 2,500 miles / 2 weeks
What’s good: I took this chain lube with me when we rode 2500 miles to Africa, via a track day at Almeria, on a BMW S1000RR and a Ducati Panigale (MCN, January 16). Our chains got a hard time from all the rain on the way and dust when we got there, so we gave them a squirt of Lucas chain lube every morning to keep them in good condition. It’s a foam spray, so you can easily see if you’ve missed any bits of chain as it’s going on, but doesn’t fly off when you’re riding. It protected our chains perfectly and I love the vibrant Nascar-style branding on the tin.
What’s not: The can was a bit bulky to carry all the way to Africa and back. It would be good if they did a smaller travel size to fit in a pannier or under your bike’s seat.
